PDF Export: Foreign Character Issues

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Atticus does its best to export your PDF, no matter how you format it. However, there are rarely some scenarios where your content can break this process.

If you are receiving a “Foreign Character” error when trying to export, that’s because strange letters can cause issues when exporting on pdf. For example, letters like these may cause issues when trying to build the pdf file:

ø, æ, ç, ł, ð, ß, þ, ő, š, ï, ī, ĭ, and others

To fix this error, find your chapter that includes strange characters, then try removing them and seeing if that allows you to export.

In the future, we are working to allow more types of characters into Atticcus- but for now, to export, these will need to be removed.

If you are still having issues, please write in to our support page here.
