Amazon is currently having a system wide issue with digital books being uploaded into KDP showing as either Italics or Bold when they shouldn’t be. This affects every type of digital book, no matter what formatting program or type you used to generate it - including Microsoft Word and old files that used to work. But we’re sure Amazon is working to fix that.
What’s Happening:
Entire chapters at random on KDP uploads are showing up as italics or bold even though they are plain text. To the best we know, this started yesterday evening central time. Stay tuned and we’ll provide more information on Amazon’s issue as we learn more.
Amazon is not vocal about these things, so we’ll make sure to keep you in the loop. Again, this is happening across the market, and we recommend waiting to upload your files to Amazon until this issue is cleared.
