How Do I Add an Ornamental Scene Break?

If you're looking to add ornamental or decorative scene breaks in your book, you can do this by editing the theme settings in your book. Below are steps on how to do this.

Step 1: Go to Scene Break in Your Theme Settings

  1. Go to the Formatting tab.

  2. Click the three dots next to your theme and select "Edit" or "Edit as New Theme."

  3. Select the Scene Break option on the left hand side.

Step 2: Select "Scene Break with Image"

  1. Choose Scene Break with Image from the options. This places a decorative image between your scenes and suppresses indentation on the paragraph that follows.

Tip: If "Apply First Sentence Formatting after every break" is enabled under your paragraph settings, drop caps or small caps will also be applied to the paragraph following each scene break.

Step 3: Choose Your Scene Break Image

  1. Select from the two options below for to add the ornamental scene break image:

    1. Upload Image - Import a new .png or .jpeg file from your computer. •

    2. My Image Gallery - Choose from images you've already imported, or browse Atticus's pre-loaded ornamental images

Step 4: Save Your Theme

  1. Once you've selected your image, save your theme. The ornamental scene break will automatically apply to all scene breaks throughout your book.

We hope this helps!
