At Accident.com, we have specific criteria that a potential client must meet to qualify as a billable lead for our services. The main factors we evaluate are:
Statute of Limitations
The accident must have occurred within the statute of limitations period for the state where it happened. This timeframe varies but is generally 0-2 years from the accident date.
No Prior Legal Representation
The potential client should not already be represented by an attorney for the accident case they are inquiring about.
Liability
The potential client must indicate that they were not at fault for causing the accident.
Medical Treatment
For accidents over 1 year ago, the client must have sought medical treatment related to injuries from the accident.
For recent accidents within the past year, medical treatment is not required at the time of lead qualification.
Type and Severity of Injuries
The nature and extent of the injuries sustained in the accident are carefully evaluated. Certain types of injuries are considered stronger leads than others.
Adherence to State Laws
While the above are typical criteria, the specific requirements can vary depending on the state laws where the accident occurred. This includes statutes of limitations, liability rules, and other regulations that our team ensures we understand and follow.
Free Lead Opportunities
In some cases, we may provide "free leads" that don't meet all of the qualification criteria above. These are typically leads disqualified during our intake process but are still shared in case you can convert any of them into cases.
Free leads can be found on the Dashboard by clicking on the "Eyeball" logo on the right side of the lead. On the bottom right, you'll be able to see the "THIS LEAD WAS ASSIGNED FOR FREE" tag.
By qualifying leads against strict criteria upfront, we can focus our efforts on delivering viable, high-quality leads to our clients that have the highest potential to convert into cases.
If you need anything else regarding what is considered a billable lead and why we sometimes send free leads, feel free to reach out to concierge@accident.com.
