Hello đŸ™đŸ»

We would like to inform you of an upcoming regulatory change that may impact a subset of outbound calls to certain European destinations.

Telecommunications regulators across Europe are introducing stricter Caller ID authentication and anti-spoofing requirements to combat fraudulent and misleading calls. These include France’s Law of 24 July 2020, Germany’s Section 120 TKG caller identification and blocking rules, Switzerland’s anti-spoofing framework, and similar requirements adopted by other European regulators. These regulations require operators to block calls that present a Caller ID (CLI) that cannot be verified as belonging to the calling party.

To comply with these regulations, our carrier partners will begin enforcing enhanced Caller ID validation rules starting October 1, 2026.

What Is Changing?

This change applies only to local (domestic) calls where:

  • The originating Caller ID belongs to one of the affected countries.

  • The destination number is within the same country.

If the presented Caller ID cannot be validated by the carrier, it will be replaced with the provider’s service phone number.

This change does not affect international calls where the originating and destination numbers are in different countries.

Affected Countries:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Who May Be Impacted?

This change primarily affects customers making outbound calls to local destinations within the affected European countries using a non-verified Caller ID that is not assigned through the AudioCodes Calling Service.

AudioCodes Mitigation:

To minimize customer impact, AudioCodes will support the verification of customer-owned Caller IDs used for outbound calls.

Customers using custom Caller IDs are encouraged to verify their ownership of the numbers presented for outbound calls.

Please note that verification does not guarantee call completion in every case. Some national operators may still reject domestic calls when a local Caller ID is presented over an international route, depending on their local regulatory requirements.
