Retroactive medication administration allows you to easily log missed medications and accurately note which team member was responsible for medication administration. This ensures the correct initials appear on the paper MAR, keeping your medication documentation accurate and up to date. Please note this feature is only available to some users.
βVideo Overview:
Documenting Retroactive Medication Administration for the Night Pass:
Step 1:
Navigate to the night med pass with the overdue administrations. The medication must be overdue in a previous med pass before you can document the retroactive administration.
Step 2:
Click "Mark As Done" or continue on the medication you'd like to document the retroactive administration. A pop-up modal will appear with "Administered By" and "Administered At" fields to indicate which team member gave the medication and when.
βStep 3:
Select the appropriate team member (the one who gave the medication to the resident) from the "Administered By" dropdown menu. Since you are logged in as an administrator, this field defaults to your name, but you can select another person from the dropdown menu if necessary.
Then, confirm the date and time the medication was administered. Since the night pass falls within two days, you can adjust the "Administered At" date. The time clock will default to the scheduled time for the medication, but you can select an appropriate time if necessary.
βStep 4:
Once everything looks correct in the pop-up, click "Mark As Done". The medication card will show a green check mark indicating it was administered and documented accurately based on your selections.
Documenting exceptions retroactively:
Step 1:
First, click the "Confirm Med Pass" button. Exceptions are indicated when you confirm the med pass.
Step 2:
In the Med Pass confirmation screen, indicate a reason for the exception.
Step 3:
Once the reason is selected, you will see a pop-up asking if you want to apply the same reason to all skipped medications. If the reason applies to all, you can click "Yes, apply to all," or if the reason is just for the single medication, click "No, just this one" to apply the reason to the single medication.
Step 4:
After applying the reason for the exception, click the pencil icon. A pop-up will indicate the person who marked the exception and the time. The time clock will default to the start of the med pass, but you can select an appropriate time if necessary.
Once you select the appropriate person, date, and time for the exception, click the "Save" button.
Step 5:
To record the updates made to this med pass, click the "Record All" button on the bottom right of the page.
Then, in the pop-up, sign and click confirm if everything looks correct.
