Maintaining accurate controlled drug counts is essential for compliance and patient safety. This guide provides an overview of best practices for managing controlled drug counts, including recording disposals and reconciling discrepancies.
Step 1:
Navigate to "Controlled Drug Count" within eMAR
Step 2:
In the upper right of your screen, click "Record Disposal."
Step 3:
Input the needed information, the med group, and the witness in the pop-up, and click continue.
Step 3:
Click "Dispose" on the resident's medication you need to record the disposal.
Step 4:
Enter the necessary information about the medication disposal and click "Save."
Step 5:
Verify the information is correct and then press "Save and Record Disposal."
Step 6:
The assigned "Counter" will sign and press "Confirm + Continue to Witness."
Step 7:
On this popup, you will have an option to change the witness if needed. If the witness is correct, press "Confirm + Enter Pin."
Step 8:
The witness will enter their PIN and press "Confirm + Submit PIN"
