Note: This workflow may not be supported in all communities. Always check and follow your community’s policy and procedures before using this workflow.

If a resident has a range dose (e.g., “Take 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours”), Controlled Count may not accurately track inventory due to variation in dosing. The system currently deducts based on a single default dose, which can result in inventory mismatches when staff administer varying amounts within the allowed range. The following steps are recommended for keeping the count accurate.

  1. Discontinue the original pharmacy order

    • This prevents misalignment in dose tracking when range doses are used.

Note: This action breaks pharmacy linkage and should only be used as a temporary workaround to maintain accurate Controlled Count deductions.

  1. Re-enter the order manually as two parts:

    • Order 1: 1 tablet every 4–6 hours PRN

    • Order 2: 2 tablets every 4–6 hours PRN

  2. Med Pass

    • Two cards will appear.

    • Staff should select the one that matches the dose administered.

    • Controlled Count will deduct the correct number of tablets.
