How to transfer inventory between orders in controlled count

This article outlines the steps to transfer your inventory between two orders in controlled count.

  1. Discontinue the Original Order
    Go to the resident’s Orders section and discontinue the original medication order.

  2. Review the New Pharmacy Order
    Confirm the new medication order details as received from the pharmacy.

  3. Receive Inventory on the New Order
    Navigate to eMAR > Controlled Count > Receive Inventory on the new order.
    Enter the pill count.

  4. Record Disposal on the Discontinued Order
    Go to eMAR > Controlled Count > Record Disposal for the discontinued order.

    • Set the count to 0

    • Select the reason: “Transfer Inventory”

    • Optionally add a note: “Transferred pill count to new medication order.”

  5. Complete End of Shift Sign-Off
    Go to eMAR > Controlled Count > End of Shift and confirm:

    • The old order shows a count of zero.

    • The new order displays the correct transferred inventory.
