Inventory Sharing in Controlled Count

How to transfer existing counts to a new order while allowing multiple orders to share the same physical stock.

Written by Courtney Rule

Follow the steps below to seamlessly transfer existing counts to a new order or share the same physical stock across multiple orders.

Transferring inventory to another order:

Step 1:

When a controlled medication with an active inventory is discontinued, either manually or via a pharmacy update, the system will automatically display the following prompt.

Select "Use with another order" and then press "Continue."

Step 2:

Select the medication you want to transfer the inventory to, then press "Save."

Step 3:

The inventory has now been successfully transferred to the new order.

Sharing inventory across multiple orders:

For example, a single bottle/package used across two orders, one for a PRN and the other for a scheduled.

Step 1:

Navigate to the order you wish to share inventory with, then expand the 'Inventory' section within that order.

Step 2:

Select "Add to group."

Step 3:

Select the medication order you'd like to share inventory with, then click "Save."

The inventory is now shared across multiple orders.

You will now see a single line item in the Controlled Count.
