On the resident's page, click the PRN dropdown to see all PRNs for the resident.

You will see all the PRNs for the resident. Click "Mark PRN as Given" on the med you administer to the resident.

Step 3:

A pop-up will appear for you to indicate the reason for the PRN. Type in the reason and then click "Mark as Given".

The PRN card will display a green checkmark indicating that the medication was successfully given and documented.

After a PRN has been given a PRN follow-up alert will be displayed on the resident's med pass card.

Please note that after 1 hour, the PRN card will turn red to indicate that a follow-up is needed. This is to ensure that it doesn't get missed.

To follow-up on a PRN for a resident, follow these steps:

Step 1:

Click on the resident's med pass card and look for "PRN Follow-up". To follow-up on the PRN, click the "Was this effective?" button on the card.

Step 2:

The PRN Follow-up display will appear. Answer the question: 'Was this effective?' by clicking the yes or no option. You can also leave a note to provide more detail. Once you've made your selections. Click the record button to finalize the follow-up.

You have successfully added a PRN follow-up! If you need to administer this PRN medication to the resident again, click the mark as given button on the card.

In the pop-up, you will see the PRN's maximum dose and minimum frequency. You will also see all of the times the PRN was given in the last 24 hours.

If you try to give the PRN too soon, you will see an alert under the last 24 hours section indicating that it hasn't been long since the previous dose. You will also get an alert if you exceed the maximum dose for the 24-hour period.
