What are Note Types:

Autochart.ai’s Note Types feature gives you the flexibility to customize the appearance of your AI-generated clinical documentation. While we offer a selection of default note types, such as SOAP, Narrative Note, and Progress Note, you can also create fully personalized templates. Tailor your notes with custom headings, bullet points, numbering, and text styling (e.g., bold) to match your workflow and preferences.

How to Use Note Types:

  • Before the Consultation:

Setup your customized Note Types using the steps below so they appear in the recording window every time you open it. Be sure to select default Note Type so it populates automatically.

  • During the Consultation:

Use the dropdown menus in the recording window to select the Note Type relevant to the encounter. If the default Note Type isn’t suitable, simply click the dropdown to choose another option.

How to Set Default Note Types & Create Custom Templates:

1. Set a Default Note Type

  • Navigate to Settings > AI Settings > Note Types.

  • Browse the list of pre-made Note Types in Autochart.ai.

  • Click the star icon next to your preferred Note Type to set it as the default.

When you open the Recording Window, your default Note Type will automatically load first, helping you save time and maintain consistency in your documentation.

2. Creating a New Custom Note Type

To create a custom Note Type based on an existing one:

  • Click the clone button next to the Note Type you'd like to use as a starting point.

  • Edit and update the duplicate as needed, then save it under a new name.

This ensures you can customize the new version without altering the original Note Type.

Tip: Avoid overwriting existing Note Types. Instead, clone the Note Type, make adjustments, and compare the outputs from the original and the updated version. Continue fine-tuning the new Note Type until you achieve the desired result.

If you prefer, you can also start from scratch:

  1. Click the New Note Type button.

  2. Fill in the relevant fields.

For guidance, refer to an existing Note Type to see how the fields are structured and what to include.

What are the three different Note Types:

  • Your own note types: These are custom note types that you create and modify yourself. They are unique to you and cannot be seen by other users.

  • System note types: These are pre-built note types provided by us. They serve as templates or starting points and available to all users.

  • Public note types from other users: Coming Soon! These will be note types shared by other users that you can browse, use, or adapt to fit your needs.

Autochart.ai's Note Types feature provides flexibility and efficiency in clinical documentation by allowing you to choose, customize, and fine-tune templates to match your needs. Whether you rely on system defaults or create your own, this tool streamlines your workflow and ensures consistency in your notes.
