How to use the Ava app to voice for you

Discover Ava Voice 🔈

If people often don't understand your voice, or you don't voice at all, Ava can speak the words you type so you can be heard!


How to use Ava Voice During a Conversation

  1. Tap on the ⌨️ keyboard icon in the bottom-right corner

  2. Type your response on your keyboard

  3. Make sure the 🔈voice icon is turned on (it will have a strike through it if it is off)

  4. Press the send button to have Ava voice your response

  5. The 🔈voice icon will turn into a stop icon while Ava is voicing your response. Click the stop icon to stop Ava from voicing your response.


How to Change the Ava Voice Option During a Conversation

  1. Tap on the ⌨️ keyboard icon in the bottom-right corner

  2. Type your response on your keyboard

  3. Press and hold the 🔈voice icon

  4. Choose a voice option between Professional, Friendly, Objective, Male, Female, or Neutral that suits you and click Done


How to Change the Ava Voice Option in Settings

  1. Tap the 🙎 profile icon in the bottom-left corner

  2. Click your ⚙️ Settings

  3. Under the Profile section, tap on the 🔈 Ava Voice Settings

  4. Choose a voice option between Professional, Friendly, Objective, Male, Female, or Neutral that suits you and click Done


How to Add More Voice Options

  1. Go to your iPhone Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Voices

  2. Choose your preferred language

  3. Choose a new voice option

  4. Click on the ☁️ Cloud icon to download the new voice

  5. The new voice will show up in your Ava Voice Settings


How to Add Your Personal Voice

⚠️ You must have a Personal Voice on your iPhone to add it to Ava

  1. To create a Personal Voice, go to your iPhone Settings > Accessibility > Personal Voice > Create a Personal Voice

  2. Allow Ava to use your Personal Voice by going to your iPhone Settings > Accessibility > Personal Voice > toggle the "Allow Apps to Request to Use"

  3. In Ava, there will be a pop-up asking to allow your personal voice. Click "Allow"

  4. Then in the 🔈 Ava Voice Settings, you will also see the toggle to permit Ava to use your Personal Voice. Please enable that as well


Tips for Ava Voice

  • Check that the volume of your phone is enabled and to the maximum to be heard.
