Ava for education (for administrators)

Ava allows your students to be fully independent through a mobile app. Learn here how to make your school accessible to all your students.

Updated over a week ago

Ava works with many educational institutions (ranging from school districts to universities) around the world, to empower students with more accessibility in- and outside of the classroom.

Depending on the needs and preferences of your students, Ava offers different services (combining automated and human captions) and works with many devices and interfaces. This allows us to offer true personalization and flexibility.

How does it work?

The student downloads the Ava app on their personal device or a device that is provided by the school. This can be a phone, a tablet (Android & iOS), or a laptop.

🚨 For best results, make sure you have a good and stable WiFi connection

For quick and spontaneous (one-on-one) interactions, the student can simply use the microphone on the device. For more elaborate conversations and for classes, the student should leverage an external microphone. This can be a wired microphone, a bluetooth microphone, or a microphone that they already use for their hearing aids (e.g. Roger Pen). See the image below for some examples.

Using Ava in different situations:

  1. Quick, spontaneous interactions with teachers and peers

  2. Group conversations such as lunch or group projects

  3. Class lectures and discussions can be captioned using Ava CC, allowing the student to follow along with the speakers.
