Updated over a week ago

For our guide on using Ava to caption a Zoom or Google Meets meeting click here.

Step 1: Open and log into Ava Web/Desktop

Step 2: Start a captioning session

Once you've logged in, click on "Start Captions" By default, Ava will start a session in CC mode (floating black box):

Step 3: Configure Sound Settings

Open Ava in Full Screen View and navigate to the menu on the left-hand side

Make sure your microphone is set to "Ava Mic" this allows Ava to "listen" to the sound coming from the computer (such as YouTube or Zoom) and from your microphone (as in the things you are saying)

🚨If you're using Ava Web, you'll have to give Ava permission to access the sound.

For Windows Users Only:

When this window pops-up, make sure to select your entire screen, check Share audio, then click on Share (see below). This keeps computer sounds muted and Ava will still be able to "hear" 👍

🔇 Coming Soon: Ability to mute Mac computer audio volume

We're always making updates to enhance your captioning experience! Soon, you'll be able to change the computer audio volume so sound doesn't have to play out loud!

Mute your voice to only get audio from your computer

Working from home? It's hard to manage chatter or sound in the background (like kids asking for lunch!). Now, you can mute yourself to caption without interruptions.

Step 4: Caption Away!

Start playing your online video or podcast and watch Ava caption away!
