What do these icons mean?

Ever wonder what some of the icons mean in Ava? Learn more for every version of Ava.

Ava contains many icons, settings, and features. To help you understand what they mean, we have broken them down based on each Ava platform!


Ava Mobile Profile Icons

  1. &AvaName: This is your special Ava Name you can share with friends, family, colleagues, etc. If you click the box on the far right, your unique QR code makes it easy for others to find you!

  2. Settings: Find a variety of settings here such as curse word filter, light/dark mode, account information, etc.

  3. Help Center: This takes you to our Ava Help page with a variety of articles on how to use Ava.

  4. Support: Click here to be connected with a Customer Support Specialist.

  5. Subscription: This tells you information on your current subscription and how you can upgrade your account.

  6. Invite Friends: Click here to send an invite to friends to use Ava!

  7. Profile: This is where you find information about your account.

  8. Transcripts: Transcripts saved from a conversation are stored here.

  9. Start Subtitles: Pushing this button will start a conversation.

  10. Contacts: This is where you find all of your saved Ava contacts.

  11. Discover: Find a variety of Help articles here.

  12. QR Code: Display your Ava QR Code for others to join a group conversation

  13. Subscription Type: This is where you find your subscription type and when it expires.


Ava Mobile Conversation Icons

  1. Profile: takes you to your profile.

  2. QR Code: invite a participant to your conversation

  3. Invite: share your conversation to invite a participant

  4. Settings: get to your Ava settings

  5. End: End your conversation

  6. Accuracy: improve your accuracy with premium captions or invite a Scribe (these features are extra and require payment)

  7. Pause / Start: starts and pauses your captions.

  8. Add: invite a participant to your conversation or join someone's conversation

  9. Type: open a keyboard so you can type words or phrases for Ava to speak for you


Ava Web Profile Icons

  1. 3 Lines: Click this icon to remove or bring back the left menu bar.

  2. Start Captions: This button will start a captioning session.

  3. Join a Conversation: Click this button to either join someone's conversation or share your unique link for someone to join your conversation!

  4. Transcripts: This is where you find your saved transcripts.

  5. Account Settings: Find profile information and adjust account settings here.

  6. Contact us: Send a message to the Ava team

  7. Start Captions: This button will start a captioning session.

  8. Caption Phone Call: Click here to caption a phone call coming through your computer (This feature is only available for paid users!).

  9. Join a Conversation: Click this button to either join someone's conversation or share your unique link for someone to join your conversation!


Ava Web Conversation Icons

  1. Participants in Conversation: each profile included in the conversation will be added here

  2. Open Ava for Mac: open Ava's Desktop app for floating captions outside of the website.

  3. Microphone Setting: Pick which microphone Ava "listens" through. *We recommend Ava Mic for the best accuracy results!*

  4. Change Font Size: Adjust the size of your captions

  5. Curse Word Filter: Don't want to see curse words in your captions? Make sure the toggle is blue!

  6. Dark & Light Mode: Change the color of your caption screen. Light Mode is shown above while Dark mode has a dark background with white captions.

  7. Text-to-speech voice settings: change the between 6 voice options for when you use text-to-speech via the keyboard

  8. Conversation Mode: choose between interactive and read-only mode

  9. Spoken Languages: Spoken language is the language in which speech is spoken and Ava is "listening" for.

  10. Translate into: Update based on which language you want Ava to caption in.

  11. Contact Support: open a chat conversation with Team Ava for any questions

  12. Ava Connect: add your Google Meets, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams meeting link to have captions directly in your online meeting

  13. Get Scribe: Click this button to enable Scribe or Premium Captions (These are paid services).

  14. Invite Participant: Click this button to invite someone to your conversation or join someone's conversation.

  15. Microphone: Make sure this icon is blue to ensure Ava is "listening." If you don't want Ava to "listen" click this button and it will turn grey.

  16. Keyboard: This allows you to type something for Ava to speak for you.

  17. Desktop App: This is a downloadable desktop app that reduces your full-screen view and opens a caption box at the bottom of your screen.

  18. End Conversation: Click the red X to stop Ava's captions.


Ava's Desktop App Icons

  1. Ava Connect: add your Google Meets, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams meeting link to have captions directly in your online meeting

  2. Invite Participant: Click this button to invite someone to your conversation or join someone's conversation.

  3. Volume Controls: Adjust the volume of your computer with these buttons. Mute External speech (not coming from a video or video conference) with the far left mic icon.

  4. Microphone: Make sure this icon is blue to ensure Ava is "listening." If you don't want Ava to "listen" click this button and it will turn grey.

  5. Full Screen View: Click this icon to enlarge Ava to Full Screen View (pictured above).

  6. End Conversation: Click the X to stop Ava's captions.

  7. Ava Voice: Type your message on the keyboard and let Ava vocalize your responses
