Your profile picture helps teammates and clients recognise you across Avaza — in tasks, chat, contacts, approvals and more. Profile pictures are now uploaded and stored directly in Avaza, so you no longer need a Gravatar account to set one. Anyone without a picture is shown with a coloured initials avatar instead, with their full name on hover.

Upload your profile picture
Click your avatar in the top-right corner of any page, then select User Profile.
In the Profile Picture section, click Change photo.
Choose an image from your computer or phone. JPG, PNG and GIF files up to 15 MB are supported. For the best result, use an image that is at least 200 × 200 pixels.
In the Crop photo window, drag the image to reposition it and use the slider to zoom. The area inside the circle is what others will see.
Click Save photo.
Your new picture appears straight away everywhere in Avaza — there is no need to refresh or clear your browser cache.
Change or remove your profile picture
To change it, go to User Profile, click Change photo and repeat the steps above.
To remove it, go to User Profile and click Remove photo. Your initials avatar will be shown in its place.
Customise your initials
When you don't have a profile picture, Avaza shows your initials in a coloured circle. By default these are taken from your first and last name, but you can set your own — handy when two people in your team share the same initials.
Go to User Profile.
In the Initials field, enter 1 to 3 characters.
Save your profile.
Leave the field blank to use the default initials from your name. If you change your name later, default initials update automatically; custom initials stay as you set them.
Manage photos for team members and contacts (Administrators)
Administrators can set, change or remove the profile picture of any team member or external contact. This is useful for keeping your team directory consistent or removing an inappropriate image.
Go to Contacts and open the Team tab (or the Contacts tab for external contacts).
Click the person's name to open their details. Their picture (or initials) appears in the header of the popup, with a small camera badge on the corner.
Hover over the picture to see the Change photo prompt, then click it.
Choose Change photo… to upload and crop a new image, or Remove photo to revert to initials. Remove photo is only shown when the person has a picture.
The same controls are available when editing an external contact.
Who can change a picture? Only Administrators and the person themselves. Other users see the picture but not the camera badge or menu.
Add a photo when creating a team member or contact
You can add a profile picture at the same time as creating someone.
Go to Contacts and click + Add User (Team tab) or + Add Contact (Contacts tab).
Click the camera avatar next to Profile photo, choose an image and crop it.
Fill in the remaining details and click Save.
The photo is saved once the new team member or contact has been created. If the person can't be created (for example, because of an invalid email address), the photo is discarded.

Frequently asked questions
I had a Gravatar picture. Do I need to upload it again?
No. If you already use a Gravatar picture, Avaza imports it automatically as your Avaza profile picture. You can change or remove it at any time from User Profile.
Why can't I see the camera badge on someone else's profile?
Only Administrators and the person themselves can change a profile picture.
I'm seeing an error when uploading several photos in a row.
To protect the service, uploads are limited to 10 per user every 10 minutes. Wait a few minutes and try again.
Does my picture update everywhere immediately?
Yes. Changes appear across Avaza straight away without clearing your browser cache.
What happens to a picture after it's removed or replaced?
It is unlinked from the profile immediately and permanently deleted from storage after a short grace period.
Can I get profile pictures through the API?
Yes. User records returned by GET /api/UserProfile include Initials and ProfilePicURL. ProfilePicURL is empty when the user has no picture.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes. You can upload and crop your picture from a phone browser, using drag and pinch to position the image.
