Copying Bookings in Resource Scheduling: FAQ

Written by Anam Saud

Can I copy a booking in Resource Scheduling?

Yes. You can copy any booking on the Team Schedule or Project Schedule and paste it on another day, for another person, or for several people at once.

How do I copy a booking?

Right-click the booking and choose Copy. The booking gets a dashed border, and a bar at the bottom of the page shows what you're copying, for example "2h/day · 4 working days".

How do I paste it?

  • Click any day on a person's row to paste it there.

  • Right-click a day and choose Paste here.

  • Hold Ctrl (or Alt, or Cmd on Mac) and drag a booking to a new day. This drops a copy and keeps the original in place.

Can I paste the same booking for several people at once?

Yes. Right-click a day and choose Paste for several people. The person whose row you clicked is already selected. Add anyone else, then click Paste.

Can I paste more than once?

Yes. The copy stays active, so you can keep clicking to paste more copies.

How do I stop copying?

Press Esc, click Cancel in the bar at the bottom, or right-click a day and choose Stop copying.

What does the copy keep?

Each copy keeps the same project, task, category, hours per day and notes as the original, and covers the same number of working days.

What happens if I paste on someone's day off?

The copy moves to their next working day, and a message tells you when this happens. Bookings set to "Schedule on days off" keep their exact calendar span.

Can I copy a recurring booking?

Yes. It pastes as a single booking the length of the copied occurrence.

Can I copy leave?

Yes, on the Team Schedule, using the same steps.

Why didn't my paste work?

Pastes follow the same rules as adding a new assignment. If a paste can't be created, Avaza shows a message explaining why, and nothing is added. Common reasons:

  • The person isn't a member of the project. Add them in Project Settings first.

  • The person doesn't have the Schedule User role.

  • On the Project Schedule, you pasted onto a different project that doesn't have the booking's timesheet category.

When you paste for several people, Avaza tells you which pastes worked, for example "Pasted for 2 of 3 people".
