FAQ - Why are some of my timesheets 'rounding up' when added to an invoice?

Timesheets not rounding time when added to an invoice

If you've noticed that your timesheet data in the "Timesheet" tab doesn't always match the same data when invoiced, it could be due to timesheet rounding settings in Avaza. There are two types of rounding settings available:

  • Round to the Nearest

  • Round up to the Nearest

You can find more information on timesheet rounding in Avaza's help center article, "How Does Timesheet Rounding Work?"

Let's look at an example:

Let's assume that you have enabled timesheet rounding on the Timesheet Settings page with the following setting.

Round up to the nearest 30 minutes

You have a timesheet entry that shows a duration of "05 hours and 30 minutes," but when you try to invoice for it, the duration is displayed as "06 hours."

- Timesheet Tab:

- Invoice:

The timesheet duration here in this example is actually a few seconds more than 5 hours and 30 minutes, for example, 5 hours 30 minutes, and 20 seconds given it was created via the timer. If the seconds were greater than 30 seconds then the Timesheet page would display 5 hours and 31 minutes however in this case given it was just 20 seconds the duration was displayed as 5 hours 30 minutes.

However, the rounding logic evaluated that duration to be greater than 5 hours and 30 minutes and hence rounded it up to the nearest 30-minute block which in this case is 6 hours.

(Please note no start and end time on the timesheet entry hence the timer increments to the same duration)
