What Is Data Reconciliation?

Data Reconciliation is the process of:

  • Linking any ad data from connected channels (such as Meta, DV360 or Taboola) with live content distributions in the Avid PubSuite platform

  • Setting up any manual entry records for live Distributions that don't have a relevant channel connected

  • Updating of any manual records at the nominated cadence

Why Do I Need Data Reconciliation?

The process ensures that:

  • The Dashboards can be maintained with as little time, and as accurately, as possible

  • Data across multiple channels can be effectively consolidated

  • Any data that can’t be automatically linked is correctly associated with the appropriate Distribution

In What Scenario Is A Reconciliation Needed?

Data Reconciliation is needed if:

  • Any ad content has gone live the previous day

  • Any Distributions without automatic data connections have gone live the previous day

  • Any manual entry data is due to be updated at the nominated cadence (ie weekly, fortnightly etc)

Based on the above, Reconciliation is required daily in most instances, and is a quick process that can usually be completed in 5-10 minutes.

What Type Of Distribution Or Content Piece Needs To Be Reconciled?

The following Distribution types need to be reconciled during Data Reconciliation:

  • Ad Post Distributions

    • This includes any Ad Distributions across:

      • Meta (Any Facebook or Instagram placements)

      • Taboola (In-Feed Native Ads)

      • DV360 (Social Display)

  • Distributions Without An Automatic Connection

    • This includes:

      • Written articles (GA4 automatic connection available from mid December)

      • Social media channels other than Meta (Tiktok connection available from mid December)

      • EDM placements

      • Display

When Choosing A Distribution Type, What Is An Example Of A 'Premium Website Media' Distribution?

  • eBook

  • Content Hub

  • Recipe Collection

  • Whitepaper

  • e-Learning Courses

  • Downloadable resources

  • Digital, Live-Streamed Event

Why Can't The Ad Data Connect To The Content Pieces Automatically?

Ad accounts include all ads run within them, and ads often have variations in captions, names, or other identifiers. These differences prevent automatic linking to content pieces.

This process can be drastically reduced using Smart Labelling, which streamlines the connection process by matching your identifier automatically.

Why Do The Entries From Meta Ads For Facebook Have No Caption In The Caption Column?

This occurs when there is no caption for a social post and instead the post is a direct link to a website article.
