What's New in AwardSpring
Move through your day faster - manage tasks in-product, find the people you need quicker, and pull more data into one reporting place. This release introduces an experience to create and manage manual tasks on our new Task Board, a refreshed Admin Users page, and Smart Reports enhancements that bring more of your data under one roof.
#1: Task Board: Manage your own tasks alongside scholarship work
The Task Board has long handled scholarship renewals and follow-ups for you automatically. Starting now, you can also create your own tasks and to-dos tied to anything you're working on, organized in one place alongside the system-generated work.
Switch between scopes with tabs
Three tabs at the top of the Task Board let you focus on what you need:
All Tasks > every task on your plate, manual and system-generated
Scholarship Tasks > only renewable and post-award scholarship items
Overdue > tasks with a due date that's already passed
Create a new task
Click Create new and a popup walks you through the inputs:
Title: simple title for quick recognition (required)
Notes: any context you want to capture
Type: To-do, Phone Call, Email, Meeting, Review, or Document
Status: New, In Progress, Pending, Complete
Priority: Low, Medium, High
Due Date: optional
Owner and Visibility are placeholder with "Coming soon" markers as multi-user task collaboration is on the way in a future release.
View, edit, or delete from a slideout
Click any row in the task table and a slideout opens with the full task details. From here you can edit any field, save changes, or delete the task without leaving the Task Board page.
Narrow the list with filters
Open the filters popup to narrow your view by Type, Status, Priority, or Award Cycle. The filter experience is the same as Smart Reports and the Award/Deny page — once you've used those, this works exactly the same way.
#2: A refreshed Users page that works like your Donor list
The Admin Users page now matches the look, feel, and capabilities of the modern Donor list. You get a smarter filter, persistent column preferences, faster search, and a slideout for quick view-and-edit on any user - plus dual-role indicator pills that make it instantly obvious when someone wears more than one hat.
Filter the way you actually search
The new filter modal lets you search any column with the operator that fits how you think:
Starts With > perfect for short surnames like "Xie" or "Lu"
Equals, Contains, Ends With > for everything else
Is Known, Is Empty > find rows where a value is set or missing
Filterable fields in v1: Name, Email, Role, Last Login, and Has Donor Sub-Account.
Customize and remember your columns
Open the column editor to toggle visibility on any column and reorder them however you want. Your preferences save per-admin, so the list looks the way you want it every time you come back.
See dual roles at a glance
When a person on the Users list (or a slider) holds more than one role, you'll see small letter pills next to their name:
A for Admin (rust)
R for Reviewer (orange)
D for Donor (green)
S for Student (blue)
Hover over a pill to see the secondary role name. On the Users list, the D (Donor) pill is clickable — it takes you straight to that person's donor profile.
Sub-views still work the same way
/Admin/Users/Students, /Admin/Users/Admins, and /Admin/Users/Reviewers continue to give you a pre-filtered slice of the same modern list - just with the appropriate role preset applied. We plan to simplify these views even further in a future release.
#3: Smart Reports enhancements
Two changes this release widen what Smart Reports can do.
External Request questions are now reportable
The Smart Reports column picker now includes External Requests. Open the new accordion in the column picker for the Students+Scholarships and Student Answers report types and you'll see every External Request template, with its sub-questions listed when you expand it. Add the questions you want and they'll appear as columns in your report - title in the column header, response in the row.
Student Answers graduates to Smart Reports
The "Student Answers" report you've used in Stock Reports is now available as a first-class Smart Report. That means you can save it, share it, filter it, and edit it the same way you do every other Smart Report.
Setup notes:
Available to scholarship management admins
Award Cycle is a required filter
A default filter is on by default: "Exclude students that have imported data only: Yes" — flip it off if you want to include those students
The full filter modal includes Profile Fields (First/Last Name, Email, Phone, Student ID, Blind ID, Last Login, Register Date, Profile Notes) and Cycle Data sections
The original Stock Report version stays available — there's no forced migration. Use the Smart Report version when you want the saving, sharing, and filtering capabilities.
Smaller improvements
Use one scholarship as a qualification for another: Set a scholarship's eligibility based on whether the applicant has won or applied to another scholarship.
Confirmation before manually applying a student: A confirmation prompt now appears before you manually apply a student to a scholarship, helping prevent accidental assignments.
Refreshed Scholarship Details page layout: The Scholarship Details page now uses our new layout for easier scanning and review.
AI Scorecards available for BARQ-style questions: Review groups using before-applying additional requirement answer questions can now leverage SpringIQ's AI Scorecards.
Smoother giving history slider in donor profiles: Improved interaction on the giving history slider for donor records.
Notable fixes
Fixed: Reviewer scoring entries no longer appear to submit before Submit is clicked. A timing issue made some scoring entries appear to commit instantly as reviewers typed.
Fixed: The Reports tab now appears for NOW users.
Fixed: Sporadic random logouts during long admin sessions. A mismatch between the server idle timer and the browser session timer caused some admins to be logged out unexpectedly.
Fixed: Optional numeric questions left blank by applicants now display correctly to reviewers instead of an internal placeholder.
Fixed: Bulk start/end date updates now handle daylight saving time transitions correctly in November and March.
Fixed: Application scores now correctly include auto-scored scorecards in every review's totals.
Fixed: The "Import" option no longer appears in the left settings panel on Donor Profile and Scholarship pages where it doesn't apply.
Fixed: Students who haven't completed required additional information no longer appear assigned to reviewers.
