What's New in AwardSpring
Decide who can do what and help applicants find the right opportunities faster. This release introduces a more flexible Admin Permissions system, plus a batch of improvements to scholarship labeling, search, and reviewing.
#1: Admin Permissions: Control what each admin can see and do
Managing your team just got more flexible. We've replaced the old, all-or-nothing admin setup with a granular permissions system that lets you decide exactly which areas of the platform each admin can see and manage, all from one place.
Meet the Super Admin role
There's a new top-level role: Super Admin. A Super Admin has full access to the platform and is the only role that can manage other admins and control their access.
Here's how a Super Admin differs from a regular admin. A Super Admin sees and manages every area your subscription includes, can promote or demote other admins between Super Admin and Admin, can edit other admins' permissions, and can delete users. A regular admin only sees and works in the areas a Super Admin has granted them, and can't change anyone else's access. In short, Super Admins can be treated as a space owner and manage other admins while regular admins do the day-to-day work within the boundaries they've been given. Super Admins are marked with a distinct icon in your Users list so they're easy to spot.
Manage access from one place: the Permissions tab
Open any General or Department admin's profile and you'll find a new Permissions tab. This is a single control panel for what that admin can do, organized into collapsible modules.
Within each module you can set granular access, for example:
Scholarships > control access to Scholarship Qualification, Additional Requirements, and the ability to manually apply students to scholarships.
Emails > control access to the Compose page (sending emails) and email Templates.
The modules an admin sees are based on your subscription (Scholarship Management, Donor Management, or both) and the area they're assigned to manage, so the list stays relevant to their work.
A note for Department admins
Department admins are essentially are same as regular admins with whey see is filtered to their assigned department or departments. Because permissions are now managed in one consistent place, the older Navigation Access and Feature Access sections under Settings > Departments have been retired.
Smaller improvements
Customize what you call "Scholarships": Rename "Scholarships" across every student-, reviewer-, recommender-, donor-, and visitor-facing view (for example, "Awards" or "Funding Opportunities"), and optionally group your records into up to five categories that appear as tags on public-facing tables. You'll still see the standard "Scholarships" term internally.
Pick up where you left off in search: Click into the search bar on the Scholarships or Users pages and you'll see your three most recent searches; select one to run it again instantly
Find filter options faster in Smart Reports: When a filter has 10 or more options, a search bar now appears so you can quickly narrow the list.
More context on manual tasks: Manual tasks on the Task Board now show their related records and donor profile information.
Hide AI scores when blinding reviews: Review Group blinding options now include the ability to hide AI scores from reviewers.
A dedicated Special Funds welcome email: If your organization is running Special Funds (SFA) then now you can enable a separate "Application Received" email template to notify students that their SFA applications are received.
Notable fixes
Conditional sections in applications now load without lag.
Duplicate follow-up tasks no longer appear
A reused imported question no longer shows up as blank white space on the application.
A donor's phone number now updates on thout needing a page refresh.
Reorganizing a question that has conditional follow-ups no longer causes an error that could prevent the Application tab from loading.
