You can also attach files from Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive/Sharepoint to tasks, projects, and comments. This is how it works:

  1. When uploading, select the respective cloud drive. A login window will appear (if none opens, see below in the article).

  2. Log in with your account and browse your cloud drive

  3. Select the file you want to attach

  4. The file will then appear in your task, project or as a placeholder in your comment

☝️Important: You can delete the file just like regular uploaded files. Only the link of the file to awork is deleted. The file remains unaffected in your cloud drive.

Frequently asked questions

If you have difficulties linking Google Drive or OneDrive files, the following tips may help you. Otherwise, feel free to contact our support team!

The window doesn't open

If the pop-up window does not open automatically, then your browser is probably preventing it from opening. Depending on your browser, do the following:

Chrome: At the top right of the URL line, a small icon will appear, indicating that a pop-up has been prevented. Click on it and allow it for your awork URL. Then select your cloud drive again to attach the file.

Firefox: A yellow hint bar will appear stating that a pop-up has been prevented. Click Settings on the right side of the bar and allow it for your awork URL. Then select your cloud drive again to attach the file.

Safari: A hint will appear in the URL stating that a pop-up has been prevented. Click on the hint or on the small window icon on the right, and the pop-up will open. If that doesn't help, it may be that your browser is blocking necessary cookies.

Edge: At the top right of the URL line, a small icon will appear, indicating that a pop-up has been prevented. Click on it and allow it for your awork URL. Then select your cloud drive again to attach the file.

Connecting Google Drive is failing

When connecting Google Drive to awork fails, your domain may not allow to connect more apps. Please try the following:

Go to Google Drive > Settings (Gear Icon) ⚙️ > Manage Apps > Disconnect from Drive

☝️Important: If at this point you see the note Your domain does not allow to connect additional apps, then your domain restricts the connection.

Go back to awork and try to attach a file from Google Drive. When prompted to allow app to access Drive files, select Accept/Allow.

My colleague can't open the file

The file from your cloud drive is only linked to awork.

Not everyone who is allowed to see the task or project in awork is automatically allowed to see the files in the selected cloud drive. It may therefore be that someone does not have access to the file. This must then be regulated separately in the drive.

For Google Drive, this can be easily done with a permission request that you can send when you open a file for which you have no rights.

In fact, the easiest way to do this is to connect awork and Google Drive to your Slack. Then you can answer those permission requests with only one click.

I have to enter my password every time

It's best to save your Google or OneDrive login in the browser because then it's just a simple account selection.

If you work with multiple accounts, this is very convenient. Furthermore, the procedure ensures that no accounts need to be stored per user in awork.

Can I turn off the option for Google Drive and OneDrive?

No, it is not possible to turn off Google Drive or OneDrive for your awork Workspace.
