Different cities have different regulations regarding rideshares. Some cities (such as the City of Toronto, Mississauga, and Oakville) require a Private Transportation Company (PTC) license in order for rideshare drivers to make pick-ups, while others do not.
Where can I pick riders up and drop them off, without restriction?
The City of Toronto (the area in the map in green) covers downtown Toronto, Etobicoke, North York, and Scarborough. We will have our Private Transportation Company License in the City of Toronto (the area of the map in Green). This means you are legally licensed to pick riders up and drop riders off in this area.
The areas which are not shaded do not currently regulate ridesharing, which means it is also OK to pick riders up and drop them off in these areas. These areas include Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Brampton, Ajax, Oshawa, Milton, and the other unshaded areas.
Please note that airport drop-offs/pick ups are covered separately below.
Where am I NOT allowed to pick up riders?
The areas shaded grey require a separate PTC license that we will need to get before Taxify partners can make pick-ups in these areas. As such, you will not be able to pick up passengers in the following areas:
But you will always be able to drop off passengers in these areas! When you enter one of these 5 cities, you will not receive any new ride requests, but you can always drop your passenger off.
If I pick someone up in the Toronto area and they want to get dropped off in Mississauga, Oakville, Kitchener, Hamilton, or Niagara, am I allowed to take them?
Yes! You are always allowed to make drop offs in any and all areas and are expected to complete the trip.
Can I pick up/drop off riders at the airport?
Toronto Pearson Airport: Drop-offs allowed, but NO PICK-UPS
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport: Drop-offs AND pick-ups allowed
