During the developer course, we will show you how to manually setup a virtual machine (vm) with Ubuntu, using VirtualBox. This software is free and runs on all major systems (Unix, Windows and MacOS).
This vm allows you to completely separate your development environment for the course from your system and to learn how to setup all the tools on a fresh system. We also provide you with a configuration file to spin up a preconfigured vm using Vagrant later in the course.
To allow a smooth operation of the vm, you should have at least 8GB of memory. You will also need administrator/root privileges, about 32GB of disk space and an Internet connection.
If you want to use a dedicated machine with a fresh Ubuntu install just for the course, 4GB memory are sufficient enough.
