Since the original launch of Product Color Variants, we've expanded functionality so Color Variant Custom Fields are available in more areas of the app.
Key Changes:
Color Variant Custom Fields may now be displayed on Tech Packs
Color Variant Custom Fields are now available in Component Utilization Reports
Public vs Private Color Variant Custom Fields
Color Variant Custom Fields may now be displayed on Tech Packs. This means that any Custom Fields set to "Public" via the Admin will now be included on Tech Pack PDFs, Public Links, and Shared Folders.
To check if a Custom Field is Public or Private, navigate to the Admin > Control Panel. The Public/Private status for each Custom Field is listed in a column.
How to change a Custom Field from Public to Private:
Navigate to the Admin > Control Panel
Click the Pencil Icon next to the Custom Field you would like to edit
In the Edit Panel, use the Public Field checkbox to adjust the display setting
If the box is checked, the Custom Field will be displayed on Tech Packs
Click Save at the bottom of the Edit Panel
Tech Pack Sections
Color Variants now have a dedicated Section within Product Tech Packs.
Note: By default, the Product Color Variant Section will be displayed after the Product Summary, but you may adjust the arrangement by following these steps:
Navigate to the Admin > Tech Pack Sections
Each Section is listed in the order they will be displayed on Tech Packs
Click and drag the handle-bar for each Section to adjust their order
Tech Pack Creation
When generating Tech Packs, the Product Color Variants Section is listed on the first page of the Creation Modal. If this section is selected, you may choose between a Condensed or Expanded Layout.
Condensed Layout:
Each Color Variant is displayed on a Color Variant Card
The Color Variant Image is displayed at the top of each card
If there is no Color Variant Image, then the Color Swatch is used instead
The Color Chip & Variant Number are listed below the image with color details: Color Name, Custom Code, Int Code, and Ext Code
Public Color Variant Custom Fields are listed on each card
Cards are condensed to minimize the number of pages
Expanded Layout
One page is added for each Color Variant
The Color Variant Image is displayed on the left-hand side
If no Color Variant Image is present, the Color Swatch is used instead
Public Color Variant Custom Fields are listed in the right-hand column
A Swatch Card is displayed beneath the image listing Color Variant Details:
The Variant Number is displayed in the left-hand corner
The Color Swatch is displayed inside the card
Color Name, Custom Code, Int Code, & Ext Code are listed below the swatch
Note: "Image Section: Color Variants" is still available as a separate Tech Pack section in the Tech Pack Creation modal. This section includes all Color Variant Images with no Custom Field data.
Component Utilization Reports
UI Changes:
The Show Unused Rows action is now controlled with a toggle switch just above the table header
New Icons are listed in the Column Headers to help distinguish fields from different areas of the app:
Cube icon represents Products
Hexagon icon represents Product Color Variants
Divided Diamond icon represents Components
Diamond Outline icon represents Component Variants
List Icon represents BOM
Expand/collapse all Component Sections action is now controlled with a caret button in the leftmost position of the table header
Component Names within Component Section Headers are now links - click the name to open the Component Record in a new tab
Product Color Variant Custom Fields
You may now enable Product Color Variant level Custom Fields on your Component Utilization reports using the new options at the bottom of the Display Settings Drawer.
CUR Exports
Any Product Color Variant level Custom Fields which are enabled on your Component Utilization report at the time you export it will map to the CSV export.
Column header names in CSV Exports of the Component Utilization Report have been standardized to always specify what section the field belongs to (Product, Product Color Variant, Component, Component Variant, or BOM) before the field name.
