As you build your Product Library, you may need to group styles by their main material. In this article, we discuss how to display your BOM's main material in the Product Summary.
Can the Main Fabric sync directly from the BOM?
Currently, this function is not available on Backbone. Instead, we recommend creating a Custom Field for the main material, and inputting this data when the BOM is created.
Why is this not an available feature?
Not all of our customers segment their products by Main Material
Not all of our customers lay out their BOMs the same way
Note: We take all customer input into account when developing new features, so please reach out to our support team at backbonesupport@bamboorose.com for feature requests.
How to track Main Fabric using Custom Fields
Navigate to the Admin > Control Panel
Click the (+) button to create a new Custom Field
Suggested names for this field include, "Main Material," "Fabric Type," etc.
The Field Type may be set to either a Text-Area or a Dropdown
Note: If you intend to filter Item Views or Line Sheets by this data, it must be a dropdown field. A text-area field is appropriate if you do not intend to filter by the data.
Once the Custom Field is created, you may enter the main material for each style via the Product Summary, or you may display the Custom Field on an Item View to enter the data in bulk.
Other ways to track Components
We greatly encourage you to use our Component Utilization Reports to track the usage of Components within your Product Libary. This data syncs directly from your existing BOMs, so you can see up-to-date data from your Product Library.
How to create a Component Utilization Report
Navigate to Component Utilization Reports
Click the [+] button to configure a new report
Within the Component Configuration, select the Component Type
Add Component-level Filters to narrow your results by Component Custom Fields
Refine By Product Attributes to narrow your results to specific Product Taxonomy or Custom Fields
Click Save to generate your report
Check out this article for more detail about how to navigate and interpret your Component Utilization Report.
