We’ve got your back.

Many people are concerned about the security and privacy of their data these days. We are too. That’s why we handle your data like we would our own from the moment you start using Backpack Health. All of the information you store on Backpack Health is encrypted. Information stored in the cloud is encrypted in our database, and 256-bit encryption protects data sent over the network and secure HTTP (HTTPS) sessions. Threat-detection services monitor Backpack Health’s systems continuously for unauthorized or malicious activity. And you can also keep your data extra safe on all of your devices by enabling two-factor authentication.

We respect your privacy.

Backpack Health embraces and is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework. That means we build, manage, and maintain the app with adherence to strict guidelines on how data is handled to fully protect your rights. We require only the personally identifiable information (email address, name, date of birth, gender, country/state of residence) that we need in order to legally provide you the Backpack Health service in a personalized way. And we’re transparent about how the information you provide is being used at every step.

You’re in control of your data.

If and when you do want to share personal health info with the ones who need it, we make it easy to add specific health and profile details to your Share Cards, and to invite another user to co-manage a profile with you (including your own). You get to decide who sees what when it comes to your personal health information.

You can make a difference with your data while keeping it private.

You have the option to consent to safely and privately to contribute health and other related information you manage on Backpack Health to research. And you can choose to do this in more than one way: You can add information to a broad research registry designed to help doctors and researchers better understand a variety of different health conditions and develop new treatments. You can also join Backpack Groups to share information with foundations and other organizations that have specific research missions pertaining more directly to you (or to a loved one, if you decide to join on their behalf).

To learn more about security and privacy at Backpack Health, please refer to our Privacy Policy. And if you have more questions, let us know! We’re happy to help. Just send us a message at hello@backpackhealth.com.
