Your battery arrives at about 50% charged, so one of the first things you are going to want to do is charge your battery!

How to Charge your battery

📌 Follow these steps for charging your battery:

  1. Charge your battery indoors at room temperature (~50-77 degrees Fahrenheit).

  2. The battery can be charged on or off your bike. Make sure that your motor ebike system and battery is turned completely off before beginning any charging procedures.

  3. Place the charger in a flat, secure, uncovered position.

  4. Plug the charger input plug into your AC power outlet (before plugging the charger into the battery).

  5. If your battery has an on/off switch, turn it to the off position. (If not, such as for the 48V 11.6Ah battery, don't worry! It is safe to charge as is!)

  6. On your battery, remove the rubber cover on the charging port. Then plug the charger DC output plug (round barrel connector plug) into the charging port on the battery.

  7. It's as simple as that! 😎

  8. When done charging, unplug the charger from the power outlet first. Then remove the charger plug from the battery charger port.

If you have a 2 amp charger there is only 1 light on the side:

If the light is Red - this means that your battery is charging.
If the light is Green - this means that:
A) Your charger is plugged into the wall and it is getting power (when your battery is not plugged in)
B) If your battery is plugged in then the green light indicts that your battery is fully charged!

If you have a 3 amp "Smart" charger there are 2 lights on the side:

If the two lights are both Red - this means that your battery is charging.
If one light is Red and one light is Green - this means that:
A) Your charger is plugged into the wall and it is getting power (when your battery is not plugged in)
B) If your battery is plugged in and one light is Red and one light is Green then this indicates that your battery is fully charged!

Note ☝️
The battery charge indicator lights on the battery itself indicate 100% fully charged when there are 3 green lights illuminated and 1 red light illuminated. As the charge gets used up, the green lights will stop illuminating in order, last of all being only the red light illuminated showing only 25% charge left.

❗️Important Charging Information

  • Do not cover the charger while charging. The charger air cools and needs to in an open, uncovered position when in operation.

  • The charger will automatically stop charging once the battery is fully charged. You do not have to worry about overcharging.

  • The light on the charger will be red while charging the battery and turn green when charging is complete. The 3amp Charger has 2 LED lights: one of these lights is always red to show that the charger is powered on, and the other light is the charge status indicator light which is red while charging and turns green when the battery is fully charged.

  • The battery can be charged on or off the bike. However, make sure that your motor ebike system is turned completely off before beginning charging.

  • Place your charger in a flat, secure, uncovered position when in use.

  • The charger should be placed out of reach and away from children

  • Charging should be done indoors in a dry area with good ventilation away from direct sunlight and debris.

  • Check the charger and battery for damage and proper connection before beginning each charge.

  • It is best to provide your battery a cooling period of about 1 hour after a ride before beginning charging, and to let the battery rest for about 1 hour after charging before going on a ride.

  • Charge your battery indoors at room temperature (~50-77 degrees Fahrenheit).

  • ❌ DO NOT try to charge your battery when it is frozen (below 32 degrees Fahrenheit). This can lead to permanent damage. Let your battery rest indoors and warm up to about 50 degrees Fahrenheit before beginning charging.

⚠️ Charger Safety Information

  • Keep charger in a safe place away from children.

  • The charger should only be used indoors in a dry, ventilated area.

  • Do not leave battery and charger unattended while charging.

  • The charger works on 110/220 V 50/60 Hz standard home AC power outlets.

  • Do not open the charger to select voltage input or change any charger settings.

  • Avoid charger contact with liquids, metal objects, and dirt/debris.

Charger Maintenance

  • Clear dust on the vents and fans regularly to ensure the charger is able to properly cool.

  • Periodically wipe the case with a cloth to protect the charger from dirt/debris.

  • Store indoors a safe, secure place where it is protected from falls and external damage.
