On these platforms, "Sports Game" doesn't mean you play a game yourself (like a video game). Instead, it refers to betting money on the outcome of real or virtual sports.
What does 'Sports Game' mean?
On this type of platform, the "Sports Game" or "Sports" section primarily offers two types of betting opportunities:
1. Sportsbook This is the main attraction of these platforms. Here, you can bet on the outcome of real-life sports (like cricket, football, kabaddi, tennis) that are live or upcoming.
Example: A cricket match between Bangladesh and India is ongoing. You can bet on:
Which team will win the match?
What will the total runs be (Over/Under)?
How many runs will be scored in the next over?
Which player will score a century?
2. Virtual Sports This is a computer-generated simulation (CGI) game that looks just like a real sport. These games do not depend on any real players or teams. Their results are determined instantly by an algorithm called a "Random Number Generator" (RNG).
Features:
They run 24/7.
Each match finishes in just a few minutes.
They include virtual cricket, virtual football, virtual horse racing, etc.
How to play? (The betting process)
The process of "playing" or betting on sports games is usually completed in a few steps. This is not a matter of skill or physical play; it is entirely a financial transaction dependent on prediction and risk.
Step 1: Select Platform and Sport First, the user must log into their account and go to the "Sports" or "Sportsbook" section. Then, they select the sport they want to bet on (e.g., Cricket).
Step 2: Select Match and 'Market' From the list of games, they must choose a specific match (e.g., a match from the BPL or IPL). After that, various "Markets" or betting options are shown.
A Market is the type of bet. For example:
Match Winner: Which team will win.
Over/Under: Will the total runs or goals be over or under a specific number.
Handicap: Betting with one team given a virtual advantage.
Next Goal: Which team will score the next goal.
Step 3: Understand 'Odds' Next to each market, there are decimal numbers (e.g., 1.50 or 2.30), which are called the "Odds."
Meaning of Odds: This shows how much money you will get back if you win.
Example: If the odds for a team are 1.80, it means if you bet 100 Taka and win, you will get back a total of (100 x 1.80) = 180 Taka (Profit: 80 Taka). Low odds mean that team or outcome is more likely, while high odds mean it's less likely (but the profit is higher if you win).
Step 4: Placing a Bet The user clicks on the odds for the outcome they want to bet on. A "Bet Slip" then appears, where they enter the amount of money they want to bet (called the "Stake") and "Confirm" or "Place Bet."
Step 5: Result
Sportsbook: After the real game ends, the bet is settled based on its result. If the prediction is correct, money is added to the user's account; if it's wrong, they lose the entire stake.
Virtual Sports: The simulation ends within a few minutes, and the result is announced immediately.
