Understanding Fancy Bets: The "Yes/No" Market

What is a Fancy Bet?

Written by CEE Team

What exactly is a Fancy Bet?

A Fancy Bet, often referred to as a "Player Prop," is a specialized wager that allows you to bet on specific player milestones or individual match events. This type of betting is completely independent of the final match result or which team actually wins the game.

Instead of guessing the final score or the overall match winner, you simply answer a highly specific "Yes or No" question provided by the sportsbook.

How Does a "Yes/No" Bet Work?

How do you play the Yes/No market?

To play the Yes/No market, you must review the specific milestone set by the sportsbook and decide if the player will meet or exceed that milestone, or fall short of it.

Step-by-Step Example: Liton Das Runs

Imagine the sportsbook offers the following Fancy Bet market: "Will Liton Das score 51 runs?"

You have two options to choose from:

  • Backing "YES": You believe Liton Das will score exactly 51 runs or more during his innings.

  • Backing "NO": You believe Liton Das will score exactly 50 runs or fewer during his innings.

Here is exactly how your bet is settled based on the real-world outcome of the match:

Your Pick

What Happens in the Match

Your Bet Result

YES

Liton Das scores 51 runs or more

WIN

YES

Liton Das scores 50 runs or less

LOSE

NO

NO

Bet Settlement Guidelines and Edge Cases

What happens if there is an unexpected event during the match?

When placing a Fancy Bet, it is critical to understand how edge cases affect your wager. Below are the official house rules for common scenarios:

  • The Exact Number Counts for "Yes": If the market target is "51 runs" and the player scores exactly 51 runs, the milestone has been met. All "Yes" bets win, and all "No" bets lose.

  • Did Not Bat (DNB): If the selected player (e.g., Liton Das) is not included in the starting XI, or if the match concludes before he gets a chance to bat, the bet cannot be settled normally. In these cases, the bet is officially Voided, and your original stake is refunded to your account balance.

  • Retiring Hurt: If a player retires hurt before reaching the required milestone, "Yes" bets will usually be graded as a loss. The only exception is if the player recovers, returns later in the same innings, and successfully reaches the target number.

Calculating Your Payout

How do you calculate your potential winnings on a Fancy Bet?

If you place a winning bet, your payout depends on your stake (the amount you wagered) and the odds offered at the time of bet placement.

Calculation Example:

Suppose you wager Taka 20 on "YES" for Liton Das to score 51 runs, and the decimal odds are 1.85.

  • Step 1: Identify your Stake and Odds.

    Stake = Taka20. Odds = 1.85.

  • Step 2: Calculate the Total Payout.

Multiply your Stake by the Odds. (Taka20 × 1.85 = Taka37.00). Your total payout is Taka37.00.

  • Step 3: Calculate your Net Profit.

Subtract your original Stake from the Total Payout. (Taka37.00 - Taka20.00 = Taka17.00). Your net profit is Taka17.00.
