This article helps you or your participants understand how to allow permission to record the camera, microphone and screen across browsers and devices

Allowing camera and microphone access on Desktop:

Chrome and Edge

We recommend using Chrome where possible for the best experience building and conducting surveys and tests. The Edge browser runs off Chromium so it's pretty much the same!

How to allow camera and microphone access on Chrome

When you reach the recording setup step, you'll be asked to Allow camera and microphone access
When prompted to use your microphone and camera click Allow while visiting this site or Allow this time

How to reset permissions

If you accidentally block Ballpark, you can change the permissions in the browser settings.

Open Chrome or Edge
Press the button at the far left of the address bar
1. The icon will be a crossed out camera symbol, a settings slider icon or a padlock icon
Change Camera and Microphone to be on ore press Reset permissions
In Ballpark, press Allow camera and microphone or reload the page

Safari

How to allow camera and microphone access on Safari

Head to a part of Ballpark that wants to use your microphone or camera
When prompted to use your microphone and camera click Allow

How to reset permissions

If you accidentally block Ballpark, you can change the permissions in the browser settings.

In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Safari and select Preferences
Click Websites
On ballparkhq.com click the dropdown
Select Allow

Opera

How to allow camera and microphone access on Opera

Head a part of Ballpark that wants to use your microphone or camera
When prompted to use your microphone and camera click Allow

How to reset permissions

If you accidental block Ballpark, you can change the permission in the browser settings.

Open Opera
Click Opera in your Mac menu bar
Click Preferences
Click Site settings and then Camera or Microphone.
To allow Ballpark after you have already blocked: Under 'Not allowed', select the site's name and change the camera or microphone permission to 'Allow'.

Firefox

How to allow camera and microphone access on Firefox

Head a part of Ballpark that wants to use your microphone or camera
When prompted to use your microphone and camera click Allow

You can also select 'Remember this decision' if you don't want to have to allow permissions again.

How to reset permissions

If you accidental block Ballpark, you can change the permission in the browser settings.

In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Preferences
Click Privacy & Security from the left menu
Scroll down to the Permissions section
Click the Settings button for the Camera or Microphone option
Use the Allow/Block selector to change permission for Ballpark back to Allow

Enable Screen Recording access on macOS

If you are using an Apple laptop or desktop device, you may need to allow your browser to access your camera, microphone and screen.

1. Click the `Finder` (first icon) in your dock and click the Apple logo in the top left corner of your screen. Select `System Preferences...`

2. In your System Preferences window select `Security & Privacy`.

3. Now select `Screen Recording` and make sure your browser is enabled there by ticking the checkbox. If the checkbox is greyed out you will have to unlock your settings first by clicking the lock icon in the bottom left of the window.

In the iPhone settings menu search for Chrome
Toggle on Camera access from the Chrome menu
Toggle on Mic access from the Chrome menu
Head back to the Ballpark link and continue your session when prompted
Use the Enable selector to change permission for Ballpark back to Allow
