This article will explore the areas of the patient profile. It will review the following:

How to Create a New Patient

There are two ways that a New Patient can be created. Through the Patients section in the Menu and while creating an appointment in the calendar.

Creating a New Patient in the Patient’s Section

You can create a patient through the Patients Section in the menu

  1. You must be logged in to Barti to create a patient. If you are unsure how to log in, please review the Barti Login article

  2. While logged into Barti, select “Patients” in the main menu on the left-hand side

  3. Click on the “Search” submenu selection

  4. On the top right-hand corner, click on the “New Patient” button

  5. Enter the New Patient’s Information

    • The minimum requirements to create a patient are:

      1. Given Name (First Name)

      2. Family Name (Last Name)

      3. Date of Birth (mm/dd/yyy)

  6. Click on the “Create New Patient” button to create your new patient

Creating a New Patient in the Calendar

You can create a new patient while scheduling an appointment in the calendar. Follow the steps below to create the new patient

  1. Navigate to the menu Appointments -> Calendar.

  2. Create a new appointment

  3. Search for a patient

  4. If the patient does not exist you can click on “+ Add new Patient” under the Patient Search Bar.

How to Search For a Patient

When searching for a patient, you can search by the following:

  1. First Name

  2. Last Name

  3. DOB (mm/dd/yyyy)

The Patient Search Page

You can search for a patient in the patient search page

  1. Navigate to the menu “Patients -> Search”

    • The page will show you recently viewed patients

  2. Search for the patient

    • First Name

    • Last Name

    • DOB (mm/dd/yyyy)

The Universal Search Bar

The Universal Search bar will allow you to search for patients. The bar will be available universally no matter what page you are on. This is an easy way to navigate to a patient’s profile

Sections of the Patient Profile

  1. Personal Info: The patient’s personal info section contains the patient’s demographics, past finalized prescriptions from completed exams, addresses, and insurance information(Medical and Vision).

  2. Appointments: The Appointments section contains the appointment history for the patient.

  3. Exams: The Exams section contains all of the completed and incomplete exams. You can access each exam to view and/or edit.

  4. Invoices: The Invoices section contains the patient’s invoice history. You can filter the invoices and export them as a PDF or a CSV report.

  5. Messages: The Messages section is where you can send notifications and text messages to your patients.

    • You must have access to the Barti Communication Platform to message your patient

  6. Files: The Files section is where you can upload files connected to your patient. These can be tests, insurance or driver's license images, previous exam PDFs, etc… Files can be given a label and searched by that label

  7. Forms: The forms section contains all intake forms linked the a patient

  8. Notes: The notes section is where you can add patient-specific notes. These notes will only show in the patient's profile

Adding Subscriber Info in the Patient Profile:

  • Navigate to Patient Profile

  • Under Personal Info, scroll toward the bottom

  • Click New Insurance

  • Toggle Policy Holder to OFF
