This article outlines how to automatically generate invoices for contact lens orders.

Steps to Add a New Contact Lens Inventory Item

Step 1: Click the New Inventory Item button on the Inventory page.

Step 2: From the item type dropdown, select Contact Lens.

Step 3: In the contact lens creation window, search for the desired product by name in the Product Name field. Matching options from the central database appear—choose the desired product.

Step 4: Manufacturer and product details autofill from the database. Enter your default price, HCPCS code, and any other desired information for the item.

Step 5: Click Create Contact Lens to save the item. If the product links to the database, you’ll see a Linked to Product indicator on the upper right. The new item now appears in your inventory.

Steps to Link Existing Inventory Items

Some contact lens products in your inventory may not be linked yet. Unlinked items display an icon on the left; hover over the icon to confirm status.

Step 1: Click the 3 dots (more options) then Edit for the unlinked inventory item.

Step 2: In the dropdown, search for the correct match from the central database and select it.

  • Fields from the central database will overwrite existing information. Review the product and click Update Contact Lens

  • If you would like to abandon changes, click Cancel

3. The item is now properly linked and will show the new status.

Steps to Add a New Contact Lens Inventory Item from the Optical Order

Step 1: In a contact lens order, linked inventory products display their prices up front. For unlinked products, you’ll see an Add Item option.

Step 2: Click Add Item to open the create contact lens form. Based on the order information we will match those items to an entry from our central database. Enter your product price, HCPCS code, and any other desired information.

Step 3: Click Create Contact Lens to create the new inventory product. Only products in inventory can be invoiced automatically.

Step 5: Once the required items are added and linked, the price appears and you’ll have the option to create an invoice directly from the optical order.
