In this article, you will learn how to use Barti's AI Scribe feature to transcribe spoken notes directly into exam fields — including Glasses Rx Notes and Contact Lens Rx Notes.

Where AI Scribe is Available

The AI Scribe microphone button (🎤) is available in the following exam fields:

  • Chief Complaint

  • Additional Notes

  • Plans (Plan entries)

  • Procedures

  • Anterior and Posterior Segment notes

  • Glasses Rx Notes (added Mar 2026)

  • Contact Lens Rx — Additional Notes (added Mar 2026)

❗ Important Note: AI Scribe must be enabled for your organization to use transcription. Contact Barti Support to enable AI Scribe.

How AI Scribe Transcription Works

  • Click the microphone icon to start recording. The icon turns red to indicate recording is active.

  • Speak your note.

  • Click the icon again to stop. A processing indicator appears briefly while Barti transcribes the audio.

  • The transcribed text appears in the field automatically.

  • If transcription fails, an error message is displayed. Try again or type the note manually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the transcription replace what I already typed?
No. Transcribed text is always appended after any existing content in the field, separated by a new line.

Do I need a separate AI Scribe subscription for Rx Notes?
No. Rx Notes transcription uses the same AI Scribe feature already enabled for your organization.
