Who this is for: Barti administrators setting up eFax for the first time. If eFax is already active in your account, see What is Barti eFax, and how do I get started?.
Steps
1. Submit the eFax Number Request Form
In Barti, navigate to Organization Settings → Integrations → E-Fax Office Numbers and click Add E-Fax Number.
To acquire a new fax number:
Fill out all fields, including your preferred area code.
To port an existing fax number:
Check the box for Transferring an existing fax number to Kno2.
Fill out all fields.
⚠️ The subdomain cannot be changed after submission. Choose carefully.
2. Send required documentation to your implementation team
Email the following to success@barti.com:
The completed E-Fax Authorization Form PDF
Your billing statement (carriers require this to verify fax number ownership for porting — without it, your port request may be rejected)
If your provider doesn't issue a bill, provide a screenshot of your account portal showing the fax number, or request a Customer Service Record (CSR) from your provider
If your carrier requires a port-out PIN, contact your provider directly to obtain it and include it with your submission.
3. Complete Kno2 account setup
After your form is submitted, you'll receive a Welcome email from Kno2 to create your account and set a password.
⚠️ The links in the Welcome email expire within 24 hours. Complete this step promptly.
After creating your Kno2 account, log in at kno2.prod.barti.com to complete identity proofing.
4. Wait for activation
New fax number: Your number will be acquired within 1 business day of the Account Activation Notification email.
Porting an existing number: Kno2 will notify the Barti implementation team when the port is scheduled and confirm the date with you. [VERIFY: The two source articles differ — one says 15 days, the other says 15 business days. Confirm the correct timeframe with your implementation team before publishing.]
The Barti implementation team will notify you once eFax is active in your account.
What you'll see when it works
The Barti implementation team will send you a confirmation that eFax is active. From that point, you can send faxes from inside Barti and receive them in the Kno2 dashboard at kno2.prod.barti.com.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to port an existing fax number?
On average, about two weeks. Kno2 will send a confirmation email by 5pm MT on the day the port completes.
Can I have more than one fax number per location?
Yes. Submit one request form per fax line. Note that Barti incurs a charge per line, so only request additional lines when needed.
How many people need to complete identity proofing?
One person per fax line. The identity proofing email is re-sent once a day for 7 business days (each link expires after 24 hours). If the links expire before proofing is completed, contact your implementation team to request a resend from Kno2. Network activation occurs 2–3 business days after identity proofing is complete.
What if I didn't receive the Welcome email from Kno2?
Check your spam or junk folder. If the email address is correct and nothing arrived, contact your implementation team so they can ask Kno2 to check the email server.
What is the purpose of the subdomain?
The subdomain is used for non-fax messaging functionality within Kno2. It cannot be changed after submission.
Can I use one fax number across multiple locations?
Yes. When creating a letter, you can choose which location appears on it. The fax cover sheet will display the location tied to the fax number (the primary location). You can also send faxes directly from the Kno2 dashboard.
