⚠️Important: We strongly recommend creating or editing Service Areas only with guidance from your Account Manager. They can advise you on targeting, bidding, and structure so you get the most value without risking costly mistakes. Any changes made without their guidance are your responsibility.
What Are Service Areas? 🗺️
Service Areas are customizable profiles within your Baton account that let you define exactly which referrals you want to compete for. Each Service Area can be configured with its own:
Geographic coverage (specific ZIP codes)
Services provided (pest control, wildlife removal, HVAC, etc.)
Property types (residential, commercial)
Bid amount (what you’re willing to pay per referral)
Hours of operation
Brand (if you operate under multiple brands in different areas)
Why Service Areas Are So Powerful ✨
Many other platforms lock you into a fixed price for every area or service, or offer only broad targeting options. Baton’s Service Areas let you get as granular as you want—matching the exact customer need, location, and timing you want to serve.
This flexibility means you can:
Pay more for your highest-value services in your best markets.
Reduce bids or exclude services in areas where ROI is lower.
Operate different brands seamlessly within one Baton account.
Examples of Service Area Strategies 🎯
High-ROI Zones: Termites – Residential – 200 ZIPs – $80/referral
Seasonal Push: Mosquito Control – Specific Summer ZIPs – $50/referral
Brand Split: Wildlife Removal – Commercial – Operates under “Urban Wildlife Pros” in metro areas, “GreenFields” in suburbs.

How Budgets & Bids Work Together 💰
Each Service Area can have its own custom bid, but your overall budget is set at the company level. This gives you precise control over which referrals you’re most competitive for, without risking unlimited spend.
