Initial Setup and Fees
When you start with Baton, your account begins with a minimum balance of $200. Baton stands out by having no membership, subscription, onboarding, or other recurring fees. Our revenue model is straightforward: we earn when referrals are exchanged between companies, splitting the referral fee 50/50 with the referring company. Companies have the flexibility to decide what conditions make a referral billable or commissionable.
Your account balance goes down when you make payments or accrue credits from submitting referrals. It goes up when you receive a referral, per your Service Areas’ Bids.
Partner Categories: Basic and Premium
Basic Partner: No Payment Required
If you are a Basic partner, you won’t incur any charges for referrals.
Premium Partner: Flexible Payment Options
As a Premium partner, you have the choice of three distinct payment methods for referrals:
1. Per Referral
In this model, a referral is billable based on specific criteria, such as the customer's desire for referral and service requirements matching your offerings.
2. Per Call
This option involves payment only for referrals that result in a call through your Baton forwarding number.
3. Per Sale
With this method, you pay us a flat amount only when a deal is closed.
4. Revshare
This model allows you to pay us a percentage (X%) of the sales you make from customers referred to you.
Baton's Recommended Approach
We generally recommend the Per Referral method due to its simplicity and reduced ambiguity regarding billable referrals. This approach is often more favorable for established companies and those receiving numerous referrals. Conversely, smaller companies or those with fewer referrals might prefer the Per Sale or Commission-based model to mitigate the risk of fluctuating deal closures.
Maintaining Integrity and Trust
A common query we address is about ensuring honesty among partners regarding referral payments. To maintain a high integrity standard, we thoroughly vet companies upon joining Baton and continue this vetting process regularly (How Baton Companies are Vetted). Additionally, to prevent spamming with low-quality leads, we have a Lead Review process that allows buyers to request credit for leads meeting our Credit Request criteria (Request Credit for an Invalid Referral). This system ensures fair play and trustworthiness across the platform.
