The filter of Star Rating needs to be activated so the plugin can convert embedded shortcodes.
You can find this setting under Site administration > Plugins > Filters > Manage filters.
How to activate the filter
Open the list of all available filters.
Look for Star Rating.
In the column "Active?", set the filter to "On".
Important: If the filter is not activated, the functionality of the Star Rating plugin cannot be used.
