Can I work a second job?

During your time of EB-3 employment, your number one priority is your sponsor. Any other job should not interfere in any way with your primary employer.

If you come to your sponsor with a limited schedule or multiple requests for time off so you can work another job, you may be fired since you are not able to meet the schedule demands of your sponsor.

If a second job in any way interferes with your EB-3 work schedule, your sponsor has an absolute right to terminate your employment and terminate your Green Card petition. We do not want to see this happen for you, and that is why we highly discourage having a 2nd job. If you do have a 2nd job, it is best to get a self-contracted job (like Uber, Lyft, Shipt, etc.)

We understand that you may have a financial need to work another job in order to make ends meet while you are receiving a lower salary. That is totally fine, as long as you continue to make your EB-3 sponsor schedule your priority. In other words, create your secondary job schedule around the EB-3 job schedule, rather than asking your sponsor to accommodate your secondary job.
