You need to have conversational English before you can start working for your Sponsor.

Having basic English competency is important for on-the-job safety. In addition, English can help you more quickly adapt and be successful in the U.S.

Preparation is key! If you need to improve your English, please do so before you receive your EB-3U work authorization. Once you receive your work authorization, you should be able at a level where you can converse with your supervisor or co-workers in English.

We recommend that you have a Level 3 or higher out of 5 for English competency:

Once you receive your work authorization, you will need to demonstrate that you have conversational English competency to our Client Services Team.

Level 1 - Beginner (basic greetings)

Level 2 - Elementary (discuss a few topics)

Level 3 - Intermediate (discuss many topics)

Level 4 - Advanced (quick and easy conversations)

Level 5 - Fluent (very experienced and advanced)

If you are not able to communicate in English, the Employer may decide to not hire you and withdraw their sponsorship. We want you to prepare beforehand so that you do not jeopardize your green card case.

Below are resources, including videos, that may help you learn English. Happy learning!
