BDV’s Government Relations team, comprised of a former U.S. diplomat and an experienced lobbyist, plays a key role in the efforts to combat visa retrogression. Our team is focused on alleviating the challenges faced by our clients seeking EB-3 visas and our employer-sponsors that are in the process of sponsoring workers for their American businesses.

Here's a closer look at the active steps taken by our team in the battle against visa retrogression:

Engaging with Federal Agencies

Our Government Relations Team has been proactively engaging with officials from the U.S. State Department, The White House, and The Department of Homeland Security concerning visa retrogression. We have had several meetings at the White House involving executive action possible on visa retrogression.

These engagements involve discussions to ensure that the entirety of visa retrogression is fully understood in relation to foreign nationals, employers, and immigration organizations. We emphasize that visa retrogression is more than numerical figures; it significantly affects the lives, opportunities, and careers of EB-3 visa applicants, sponsor-based business operations, and the subsequent success of both parties.

Meetings with Congress

Members of Congress wield considerable influence over immigration policies and visa allocations. BDV has been meeting monthly with legislators, legislative directors, and committee staff members to highlight the economic and social benefits of a streamlined immigration system, which would positively impact business owners and the EB-3 visa applicants. Congressional oversight and accountability are our primary objectives as we face continued visa retrogression. We are urging Congress to apply pressure to federal agencies, including the State Department, calling for agency leaders to publicly address backlogs and processing delays that contribute to visa retrogression. On a routine basis, we file congressional inquiries on behalf of our long-pending clients to help expedite their processing and move their applications forward, minimizing the impact of retrogression on their lives and plans.

Providing Real Solutions

We employ data analysis and reporting to monitor visa retrogression trends and assess the State Department's performance; allowing us to pinpoint the areas where inefficiencies bottleneck within the visa allocation process. Armed with this information, we are able to advocate and provide sensible policy proposals centered on issues like visa recapture, spouse and dependent exemptions, and administrative changes. Our commitment to incorporating strategic data analysis and reporting empowers us to drive informed change and influence policy to limit the need and overuse of visa retrogression.

In BDV's Government Relations department, we harness our unique expertise to remain at the forefront of relevant discussions and efforts to combat visa retrogression, championing the interests of EB-3 visa applicants and employer sponsors alike. Through engagements with all branches of government, agency officials, meetings with congressional offices, and continued advocacy for substantial policy improvements, we are working around the clock to make the immigration system more efficient, accessible, and fair. We aim to create a smoother pathway for EB-3 visa applicants and ensure that business owners can access the talent they need to thrive in the United States.
