Overview
Content Approval allows you to moderate which posts can appear in the main feed. You can decide to enable or disable this setting for your community.
Depending on the type of community you run, Content Approval may help keep topics and discussions on track.
If you are going to use Content Approval, be sure to review pending posts quickly to let members feel heard.
All posts from your members appear in the community feed by default, unless you enable restricted registrations on your platform settings. With Beam.gg's content approval feature, admins and moderators can review all pending posts within the community and must approve them before they appear on the feed.
Why is it important to moderate posts?
Your members need to be protected from abuse, or trolling.
An inflammatory topic is taking the community away from its intended purpose.
People spam post about the same thing over and over again.
Of course, using this feature will greatly depend on the nature of your community. A support community, where members need to talk immediately and freely, might not want to use Content Approval. On the other hand, a community that's centered around one specific topic may use Content Approval as a way to prevent members from posting about something off-topic and unrelated.
On rare occasions when conflict occurs among members, it's recommended to temporarily turn on post approvals until tensions have eased.
How does it work?
Enable Restricted Submissions
Restricting submissions will allow you to moderate content in your community before they are posted. You can do this regardless if you have a private or a public community. To turn this on, just go to Platform Settings > Platform Visibility.
Moderate member posts
To see all of your pending posts, just go to the Community Manager > Content Approval. Here, you'll be able to see a preview of the posts and take action on content submissions.
