1. Notify your neighbours
Notify your neighbours (and building staff if you live in a block of flats) at least 5 days ahead of breaking ground.
2. Ensure your contractor and their team have access
Agree with your contractor on the method of allowing access into the property eg shared keys, lock box, other?
3. Confirm the staging area
A 10β x 10β cleared staging area is needed. This area is used to store materials, equipment, and for working space during the build.
4. Review protection plan
Your contractor will explain their protection and dust control plan, tailored to your space and renovation goals. Now is the time to relocate your personal items, specifically valuable and sentimental items to help prevent any damage.
5. Communication
What is the best way for your contractor to stay in touch with you throughout the build? Phone, email, text, WhatsApp, other?
