Emptying a bean bag can be a little messy if you're not prepared, but with the right method, it’s quick and easy.Whether you're washing the cover, replacing the filling, or switching to a different type of fill, here’s how to do it safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Need:
A large plastic bag, storage container, or another bean bag liner
A second person (highly recommended)
A funnel or a cardboard tube (optional, but helps control flow)
A calm, draft-free space indoors to reduce static mess
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Open the Outer Cover
Unzip the bean bag cover to access the inner liner or filling
If your bean bag has an inner liner, simply remove it and set the filling aside
Create a Controlled Opening
If there’s no liner, gently open the zipper on the inner bag containing the beads
Insert a large funnel or cardboard tube into the opening of your storage bag or container
Transfer the Filling
With one person holding the bean bag and the other guiding the funnel, pour the filling slowly into the container
Take your time to avoid spills – the beads are lightweight and can scatter easily
Minimise Static
Lightly mist the area or the inside of the funnel with water using a spray bottle to reduce static cling
Avoid doing this near electronics or in a windy area
Seal & Store the Filling
Once emptied, seal the storage bag or container tightly to keep the beads clean and contained until you're ready to refill
In Summary
To empty your bean bag, use a large container, a funnel, and a second person for best results. Work slowly, in a draft-free area, and store the filling securely to reuse later.
