1. Components of a Good Prompt

A well-crafted prompt consists of several key elements. These elements help Beatoven AI understand your needs and produce music that closely matches your vision.

1.1 Genre

Specify the genre of music you want to create. Beatoven AI supports a wide range of genres, from ambient to hip-hop. Here are a few examples:

  • Ambient

  • Cinematic

  • Lo-fi

  • Electronic

  • Rock

  • Jazz

  • Hip-hop

1.2 Instruments

Mention the instruments you'd like to be featured in the music. You can specify traditional instruments like piano, guitar, or drums, or opt for electronic elements such as synthesizers and pads.

1.3 Mood

Describe the mood or emotion you want the music to convey. This helps in setting the tone of the music. Examples include:

  • Happy

  • Sad

  • Tense

  • Calm

  • Uplifting

  • Dark

1.4 Tempo

Mention the range of tempo, or even exact beats per minute values :

For example:

  • Slow: 50-90 BPM

  • Medium: 90-120 BPM

  • Fast: 120-170 BPM

1.5 Use Case

Specify the intended use of the music. This could be for a background score, a theme song, or ambient noise. Examples include:

  • Podcast Background

  • Film Score

  • Game Soundtrack

  • YouTube Video

1.6 Duration

If you have any specific requirements for duration, include them in your prompt. The default track duration is 1 minute.

2. Limitations

2.1 Instruments

For granular control, you can download the stems for each generation, which typically correspond to individual instruments. While Beatoven leverages ethically sourced proprietary datasets, some rare or highly specific instruments may not be available. We encourage you to reach out and suggest any additional instruments you would like to see included in future updates.

2.2 Transitions :

Musical transitions are techniques that smoothly move from one part of a song to another, ensuring changes in mood, tempo, key, or style flow seamlessly. Currently, our algorithms don't support transitions, but this feature may be added later or offered to select users.

2.3 Sound Effects / Foley :

Beatoven is currently unable to generate sound effects or foley. This feature may be added in the future, or already available to a select group of users.

2.4 Vocals :

Having lyrics or voiceovers in the prompts will not work, however generations may have vocals as a musical component of the song, like vocal layers.

2.5 Duration :

The minimum and maximum duration for generated music is 10 seconds & 15 minutes respectively. According to our tests, an optimum duration for tracks is between 15 seconds to 2.5 minutes.

2.6 Loops :

Though some generations may result in loopable compositions, it is not a guaranteed outcome.

2.7 Tempo :

Avoid mentioning BPM values in your prompt, as they may result in incorrect results. Instead, use descriptive words like slow, medium, fast, upbeat chill, laidback, etc.

2.8 Key, Scales, Time signatures & other musical terms:

Due to the fact that Beatoven AI is intended for background music for content creators and not musicians, mentioning key, scales, chords, time signatures & specific musical terminologies may not work. Do not mention terms like ‘F#’, ‘minor’, ‘dorian’, ‘6/8’, ‘portamento’, etc.

4. Testing and Iteration

Music generation can be an iterative process. Don’t hesitate to jumble elements or tweak your prompts based on the results you get. Sometimes, small changes in wording can lead to significantly different outputs.

4.1 Experimentation

Feel free to experiment with different genres, instruments, and moods to discover unique combinations. Beatoven AI is designed to help you explore a wide range of musical possibilities.
