Effective January 1, 2018, OHIP will cover the costs for all babies, children and youth age 24 and under, and have OHIP coverage. Coverage stops at on the 25th Birthday.  Enrollment is automatic and all you have to do is give your pharmacist a valid prescription and Health Card number.  More than 4,400 drugs are covered.  For the list of drugs covered please go to: https://www.formulary.health.gov.on.ca/formulary/

For all other information regarding this new Ontario Drug Benefit program please go to: http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/programs/drugs/ohipplus/

This government benefit program affects your Extended Group Health Plan only to the extend that the payer is not your insurer for the drug portion only.

The insurers estimate that OHIP+ will reduce drug spending by 1% to 2%. Drugs are 70% of your healthcare rates.
