Before Creating a Column

Admins can grant contributors writing permission and set up their contributor homepage on Forbes.com using Columns. Note: Incomplete User Setting pages are bad for Columns.

Please make sure these fields are filled out in User Settings before setting up a Column:

  • Name & Display Name

  • Email

  • User Type

  • Division

Select a user and visit their User Profile >  Go to Memberships > Under 'Columns', click the Plus Sign

You have 2 options LAUNCH COLUMN or LINK EXISTING COLUMN

How to launch a Column

  1. Select a user and visit their User Profile

  2. Go to Memberships

  3. Under 'Columns', click the + icon

  4. Set the URL Slug
Note: Bertie will auto-generate a suggested URL, but you can still change it

  5.  Select the appropriate Primary Channel/Section

  6. Click Launch Column

How to link an existing Column

  1. Select a user and visit their User Profile

Review the Contributor Homepage to make sure it published correctly. Enter the URL in your address bar to see the contributor’s homepage. The page will automatically populate but if it doesn’t, here is how to publish a Contributor Homepage manually.. (Follow these steps if the page has a 404 error)

  1. After the last slash (/) in the URL, add ?backend=templates

  2. Click on the Edit Tools Gear ⚙ to open the Page Editor.

  3. Click Publish. NOTE: The page may have a different design depending on the page, but the steps are the same.
