Changing a Contributor's Writing Permissions

Are they able to publish? Add a co-author?

To change the permissions a writer has, you will have to change the role that is set. This can be changed through their Publication/Column settings.

  1. In the navigational menu, click Publications

  2. Search for the desired Publication

  3. Click on the Publication Name

  4. Click Members

  5. Select the appropriate role for the writer based on the following features:

Contributor

  • Use for a contributor whose posts must be reviewed before publication.

  • A Contributor can write posts but cannot publish them. Content must be published by a staff member.

Author

  • This is the default role for all contributors.

  • An Author can publish and manage only their own stories.

  • An Author within a group blog cannot publish nor update other author's stories.

Editor

  • An Editor can publish and manage their own stories.

  • An Editor can change the primary author as well as add a co-author

  • An Editor within a group blog can publish and manage other writers' stories.

Admin

  • An Admin can publish and unpublish their own stories.

  • An Editor within a group blog can publish, unpublish and manage other writers' stories.

  • An Administrator can manage their Publication settings.

  • Note: Please obtain approval before setting this role.
