How are Pageviews measured?

  • Forbes uses Google Analytics as the Source of Truth for all metrics including Pageviews.

  • Google Analytics has been used internally for monthly reporting and within the Bertie dashboard.

  • More information about how Google Analytics defines a Pageview can be found here.

How often are Pageviews updated?

Forbes provides metrics as soon as they are received from Google Analytics. Google Analytics does not provide an exact timeline for frequency, but to see when your stats were last updated, please refer to the Time Stamp shown in the Top Summary Section of your Stats pages - "Source: Google Analytics, As of ___".

Why do my pageviews drop and then jump back up?

What you are seeing each day is our system updating data between Google's monthly, daily, and "realtime" feeds. We realize that the order that these updates are happening is causing the dip and are working towards a solution. This is only a display issue and we are not losing any pageviews in the process.

Pageviews on the Dashboard:

You can view Pageviews for your Live stories on your dashboard. These views are updated at the same frequency as the Pageviews on your Author Stats and Story Stats pages.

Things to note:
• To see the latest number of Pageviews on your stories, you need to refresh your screen
• Bertie began capturing Pageviews in January of 2019
• If a story displays " - Pageviews" note that there are no views at that time.

• Pageviews are only available for published stories.
• Pageviews are not available in Bertie for Galleries at this time.
